Design-driven stories for an unstable world.
There’s a new signal in the stream.
It’s called The Alternate Feed — a cinematic multiverse of shortform stories built for the age of overload. And it launches this Monday, June 23.
What is The Alternate Feed?
In a world where the algorithm rewards outrage and compression, The Alternate Feed slows the scroll with meaning. It’s not about hot takes. It’s not about aesthetics alone. It’s about designing story systems that help us feel, reflect, and reframe.
Every two weeks, we explore one high-voltage topic — from burnout to civic collapse, from trust to digital identity — and unravel it through five distinct narrative lenses:
- SYSTEM — invisible architectures and design logic
- SOFTWARE — emotional literacy and internal systems
- FUTURECAST — speculative civic fiction rooted in design, not despair
- GLITCH — algorithmic absurdism and simulation theory
- ECHO — poetic memory and mythic archetypes
How It Works
- 3x per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays): we drop a rotating shortform video on TikTok via @alternatefeed, YouTube via @AlternateFeed, and Instagram Reels via @thealternatefeed. Each one explores the theme through a different lens.
- Every second Monday: we go longform on REDedine’s YouTube with a deeper video essay — exploring the same theme through story, systems, and civic imagination.
Theme 01: The Anatomy of a Collapse
We begin — fittingly — with breakdown.
Our first two-week cycle explores the idea of collapse. Not just as a geopolitical event or personal burnout, but as a systemic phenomenon: How things fail. Why systems break. What the warning signs feel like before they’re visible. And what we do (or don’t do) when the cracks begin to show.
From emotional unraveling to civic decay, from simulation overload to generational grief — we’ll be decoding collapse across every Feed.
Why It Matters
We built The Alternate Feed because too much of what we consume is designed to distract, distort, or desensitize. This is our counter-design: story as lens, video as signal, perspective as a form of resillience.
